Upon Harvesting

· If your shot wasn’t exactly perfect and your trophy needs another bullet - - DO NOT SHOOT IT IN THE NECK OR HEAD - - behind the front shoulder will work.

· Place paper towels in the animals mouth.

· If you shot a buck try to drag it by the antlers rather than with a drag rope.

· When dragging try to keep as much of the head/neck area off the ground.

· If you are having your animal processed at a butcher shop - let them know you plan to have it mounted. Ask them to cape it extra long (I can cut off the extra but is tough to add on). Also ask if you can pick up the cape that day (or as soon as possible).

· If you can't get the hide  to me promptly - bag it and freeze it!   Bacteria starts growing as soon as the animal dies.  The warmer it is outside will determine how fast the bacteria grows.

· If it is above 55 degrees you need to get the animal skinned and frozen as soon as possible.

· If it is 45-55 degrees you have a few hours

· If its is 32 -45 degrees you have several hours

· If it is colder than 32 degrees you have a decent amount of time – but don’t get carried away!

Reptiles

· If you can’t bring your trophy to me within a few hours after it is killed you will need to wrap it in dry papertowels, place in a plastic bag, and freeze.

· The proper way to kill a reptile is by freezing it.  I will do this for you if you bring it to me alive.

Fish

· DO NOT GUT YOUR FISH

· Try to handle your fish as little as possible.

· If you can, take a couple nice pictures of the fish as I can use them when I go to paint.

· Wrap it in wet paper towels, place in plastic bag and freeze so that the fish is laying flat.
